The upcoming symposium will be held at
University of Ljubljana from
3rd to 5th September 2026.
The Symposium will be held on the topic
Sustainable Land Management in the Context of the Circular Economy
Call for Papers:
The symposium aims to explore innovative solutions and foster dialogue on sustainable spatial development in both rural and urban contexts. It will focus on integrating circular principles into land use and spatial development systems, restoring soil health, and promoting more efficient, regenerative, and inclusive approaches to land governance. Contributions on other forms of sustainable land use and spatial development are also welcome. In addition, topics related to innovative approaches to spatial monitoring, analysis, and forecasting of land use change and real property development are encouraged, as these are particularly important in times of change in urban and rural areas. To address challenges such as climate change, overheated housing markets, roperty issues and land use conflicts, it is essential that decision-making is based on innovative, substantiated, and data-driven findings.
Presentations will take place on 3rd and 4th September 2026. The event will be organised by the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The excursion is scheduled for Saturday, 5th September 2026. For any organisational information, please contact the organising committee (e-mail: eald2026@fgg.uni-lj.si).
The board is committed to ensuring sufficient time for discussion. Please note: each speaker will have a maximum of 20 minutes for the presentation (excluding time for short questions). If you plan to attend the symposium with an oral presentation, please upload the title and an abstract of your contribution by 15th May 2026 at the latest using our application form (https://tud.link/u3fya2). The board would appreciate it if your collaborators and PhD students also participate. As usual, the languages of the symposium are English and German.
Publication: The presentations will be published together with those from the previous symposium held in autumn 2025. The papers will be peer-reviewed. Accepted symposium papers will be published in book format. All authors will participate in the peer-review process reviewing at least two articles. This allows us to continue our book series.
Approx. Fees:
- The symposium registration fee for members and non-members is 200 €. This includes lunches, refreshments and – for ordinary members – the membership fee for 2025.
- The symposium registration fee for PhD students is 135 € including the PhD workshop.

- The excursion fee will be announced by the time of registration.

By mid of June 2026, detailed information about the programme, registration procedure, payment, excursion, accommodation, etc. will be provided.
The final symposium’s programme will be available at the latest one month before the meeting. The Symposium will be combined with a General Assembly.
